Roblox for brands: a practical guide.
Roblox is a platform where people play millions of 3D games and experiences made by independent creators. Brands show up there in five main ways: their own game, a limited-time experience, an integration into an existing game, avatar items, and ads. This guide explains each one, who you reach, the rules, and how to measure what you get.
Who plays Roblox?
Roblox reaches a large, young and increasingly international audience. In the second quarter of 2026, Roblox reported 123 million daily active users and 29 billion hours of engagement [1]. Growth is fastest outside North America: daily users grew 67% in Japan and 64% in India year over year, against 6% in the US and Canada [1].
| Metric | Q2 2026 | Change year over year |
|---|---|---|
| Daily active users | 123 million | +10% |
| Hours engaged | 29 billion | +5% |
| Bookings | $1.56 billion | +8% |
| Age-checked users under 13 | 35% | – |
| Age-checked users aged 13–17 | 38% | – |
| Age-checked users aged 18+ | 27% | – |
Age shares cover users who completed Roblox’s age check, which reached 57% of daily users in Q2 2026. Roblox describes them as estimates [1].
How can a brand show up on Roblox?
There are five main routes. They differ in how much you control, how long the work lives, and who builds it. Most campaigns combine two or three.
| Route | What it is | Best for | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Branded game | Your own Roblox game, built around the brand, with a gameplay loop and progression. | A lasting presence players return to; full brand control. | Months to years, with updates. |
| Limited-time brand experience | A world built for one moment: a launch, a product drop, a season or a live event. | Launches and campaigns with a clear start and end. | Days to weeks. |
| Integration into an existing game | Your brand, product or quest placed inside a popular game, agreed with its creators. | Fast reach into an audience that already exists. | The length of the deal. |
| Avatar items | Virtual clothing and accessories players wear, sold or given away. | Brand visibility that travels with players between games. | As long as players wear them. |
| Ads | Rewarded video, the Homepage Feature, and immersive ad placements bought from Roblox. | Paid reach with familiar media buying and measurement. | The length of the flight. |
Integrations can reach very large audiences. Roblox reports that Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirth activation delivered about 2 billion impressions, and Wicked: For Good almost 8 billion [2].
What is the difference between a branded game and a brand experience?
A branded game is a full Roblox game built around a brand. It has a gameplay loop players repeat, progression that rewards coming back, and room to grow with updates. A brand experience is a limited-time world built for one moment, such as a launch or a season, with a clear beginning and end. Choose a game when you want a lasting place in players’ routines; choose an experience when the moment is the message.
Which Roblox game formats work for brands?
Roblox players have strong genre habits. Building in a format they already know lowers the barrier to playing.
- Obby
- An obstacle course: jump, fall, retry. Quick to learn, easy to theme, good for short campaigns.
- Tycoon
- Players build and grow a business or base over time. Suits brands with a product world to grow into.
- Simulator
- Repeat an action to collect, upgrade and unlock. Strong on return visits and progression.
- Roleplay
- A place to be someone: a town, a shop, a school. Suits brands with a recognisable setting.
- Social hangout
- A space to meet friends, show off avatars and take part in events. Pairs well with avatar items.
- Live event
- A scheduled moment such as a concert, a premiere or a drop that players attend together.
What ad formats does Roblox offer brands?
Roblox sells ads directly and through programmatic partners. Rewarded video lets players opt in to a full-screen video in exchange for an in-game reward. In January 2026 Roblox said it was used by over 1,000 brands in over 400 experiences, with completion rates over 90% and viewability over 95% [2]. The Homepage Feature, in closed beta at the time, turns a brand video on the Roblox homepage into an immersive 3D environment when clicked [2]. Building on its partnership with Google, Roblox is widening programmatic access through Amazon DSP, Liftoff, Index Exchange, Magnite and PubMatic [2].
These performance figures are reported by Roblox.
What are the rules for brands on Roblox?
Roblox’s Advertising Standards took effect on 15 June 2023 [3]. The main points for brands:
- No ads to under-13s. Ad content must not be shown to users under 13; developers use Roblox’s tools to check eligibility and show those users something else [3] [4].
- Disclose paid experiences. When an experience is a paid advertisement, that has to be made clear to players [4].
- No outside ad serving. Third-party ad serving is not allowed; content goes through Roblox moderation [4].
- Influencers disclose too. The US Children’s Advertising Review Unit has asked for clear disclosure of paid influencer content on Roblox [3].
Rules change. Read Roblox’s current Advertising Standards and Community Standards before you launch.
How does a branded Roblox project run?
This is how we run projects at Saunaviltti. Most studios follow a similar shape.
- Brief. Who you want to reach, and how they should feel when they leave.
- Concept. The world, the loop that keeps players in it, and where the brand lives.
- Build. Design, code and art, with a playable build early and often.
- Playtest. Watch real players play, then fix everything that is not fun yet.
- Publish. The world goes live on Roblox, ready for its first visitors.
How do you measure a Roblox brand campaign?
Agree the metrics before you build. For your own game or experience, Roblox’s Creator Hub analytics report [5]:
- Daily active users and new users: how many people played, and how many were new.
- Session time: average play time per session, a direct read on whether the game holds attention.
- Day 1, 7 and 30 retention: the share of new players who come back, the clearest sign they enjoyed it.
- Acquisition: visits from your own share links and how often players who saw the game chose to play.
For paid media, Roblox offers targeting and measurement options on its ad formats, and programmatic partners such as Amazon DSP add their own measurement tools [2]. Ask which metrics you will get before you buy.
Our view: start with the game.
Players can smell an advert from across the map. The brand activations that last are good games first: a world worth exploring and a loop worth repeating. The brand goes into the parts players love most, not on a billboard they walk past. That is how we work at Saunaviltti, a studio in Finland that designs and builds Roblox games and experiences for brands.
